  1. Download and install. Log into your Office 365 account. Once logged in, go to the Settings and in your Software options you should find “Skype for Business”. Click on Install and then Run.
  2. Sign in. Once you open Skype, type in your email address and your password, and then click Sign In.
  3. Set up audio and video. Most of the times, when it’s the first time you’re using a tool for business videoconferences like this one, you need to set up your microphone and camera so the people on the other side can see you and hear you. Usually, it is done automatically, but if it’s not working, you just have to select your camera and microphone from the Audio Device, and Video Device options and it will be set.
  4. Start a video call. Once inside Skype, you can start a conversation with any of your contacts by clicking on the “video” icon next to their username and picture. You can also look for a contact using the search bar. An alert will show up in your contact’s screen, and once it’s accepted the conversation window will expand with the video on.
  5. In-call tools. Inside the conversation window, you will find several icons, and at any time of the call you can: end the call, end the video, mute your microphone, share your screen or add more people to the conversation.
  6. Other in-call options. You can control what your audience see, for example: by choosing the Content View in the window, the participants of the meeting will be able to only see the presentation you’re showing. If you use Gallery View, then all the participants’ videos will show (in case there are more than two participants). By choosing Speaker View, the participants will be only able to see the person who’s talking. You can set the Full-Screen View to have the Skype window occupying all your screen so you can focus only on your meeting.
  7. Answer a video call. When someone calls you, you’ll receive a pop-up notification. Reply to the call by clicking anywhere on the pop-up, but if you want to reject the call just click “Ignore” or the red button.
  8. Set up a meeting. This is done through your Outlook Calendar. Simply click on “New Skype Meeting” write the date and the details of the meeting, and by using the “Scheduling Assistant” check everybody’s availability. You can even upload documents and send them in the invitations so your employees review the content before the call.
