Best and Free Business Apps to Have an Amazing Start of 2020

Are you looking for New Year’s resolution ideas? How about finding new and more efficient ways of managing your business? Get ready for 2020 with the best and, most importantly, free business apps out there.

If you are not currently using apps, it doesn’t mean that you are doing it wrong. However, you could make things easier and faster for yourself to focus your time and energy on things that matter. In this article, we’ll walk you through the 12 free business apps that will help you succeed during 2020.

As a small business owner, very often you have to play different roles, like manager, marketer, accountant, salesperson… we could go on forever. But that’s why having different business apps can help you get those tasks done more quickly and without having so much expertise in those areas.

How can business apps help your business

Business apps can help you do more efficiently and faster, things that either you couldn’t do by yourself or that otherwise would take you a lot of time.

Let’s say that you need to create a flyer for your special offer, but the nephew that usually helps you with the design is busy with his work. Unfortunately, hiring an external designer is costly. A design app with numerous image editing tools and pre-made templates could help you.

Or maybe your team has already lost a lot of USB sticks while sharing documents internally, and your email inboxes are full of files, and they get mixed up with other emails. A file-sharing app can make your life easier for you and your team.

These are just a couple of examples of how business apps can help you, but the truth is that, nowadays, there are all sorts of apps for all kinds of things. So, if you want to stay up to date, it’s time to download some of the best business apps.

Top 12 free business apps that will help you succeed this 2020

There are apps for almost anything. However, you have to pay for several of them, and some of them can be quite pricey.

But the list we came up with is rather unique. All the apps mentioned here are wither free or freemium (you get basic functionality for free, but if you want extra functions, you’ll have to pay for them). I’m pretty sure that if you have a small team or a small operation, these apps could make your life easier.

Let’s take a look:

Finance apps

  • Wave

Wave is a free accounting app that helps you keep track of all your expenses and income. You can:

📱Keep track of multiple businesses from one same account

📱Create branded invoices for your customers

📱Accept online credit card payments

📱 Scan your receipts and save them in the app

You can use it on your computer or download the iOS and Android app on your phone completely free. If you want to receive online payments, though, you’ll have to update to the Pay-per-use account.

  • Abukai Expenses

This is a straightforward app that claims to be “the world’s quickest and easiest way to create expense reports.” With Abukai Expenses, you simply have to take a picture of your receipts, and the app will automatically create the report with all the information needed: amounts, vendors, date, location, description, and categories.

You can download it to your iPhone or Android phone completely free. The basic version can only be used for one person. But if you’re running more significant operations and expenses, you should get one of their premium options.

  • PayPal

PayPal is one of the easiest and most known ways of getting paid with credit or debit cards online.

It also enables you to send invoices to your customers, send and receive payments. Creating a PayPal account for business is completely free, and using its features doesn’t cost a monthly fee. However, there are transaction fees that you should take into consideration.

PayPal provides other services for business that are not free, but starting with the basic version could be really helpful, as your business grows, you can be adapting your account to your needs.

PayPal has a free business app for both Android and iOs.

File sharing apps

  • G Suite

gsuite, business apps

There are better ways of sharing files within your team than having a drawer full of USB sticks. Google Drive is, by far, one of the best alternatives.

Even better, it’s part of G Suite, a group of Google applications that allow you to manage your email (Gmail), agenda (Calendar), and files (Google Drive, Google Docs, Google Sheets, Google Slides, etc.,) all in one. And as long as everyone in your team has a Gmail account, you can share files with them.

The free version includes 15GB of space for the whole suite, which is a lot. However, if you manage large files and you have a big team of employees, paying for the business version could be a good idea.

You can use the Gsuite in your computer or download all the apps on your Android or Apple phone.

  • WeTransfer

Talking about large files, if you require transferring a hefty file (say 2GB), WeTransfer is your app

WeTransfer allows you to send a file no heavier than 2GB to up to 3 people all at once. I know this sounds like it could take a long time to upload and download, but the loading times are not as long as in other applications.

Just to give you an idea of how much 2GB is: a standard email account only allows you to upload 25MB attachments, and 2GB is equal to 2000MB. That means WeTransfer will enable you to send and receive files 80 times bigger than what a regular mail allows you.

The only downside of the free version of WeTransfer is that the file you upload is only available for seven days, then, it gets deleted.

You can use WeTransfer on your computer or download the Android and iOs app.

  • Dropbox

Dropbox is another file-sharing app with a useful free basic version with 2GB storage. You can create folders, save files, and share them with your team.

You can download the app on your computer or phone. The apps will synchronize automatically so you can access its content in up to 3 different devices whenever you want, wherever you are.

You can upgrade your Dropbox account to get more space and capabilities, but the free version could be the perfect fit if you’re just starting.
